What is EFT?

EFT is an energy therapy technique that can be used to treat both physical and emotional ailments. It is based on a new discovery that has provided thousands with relief from pain, emotional issues and disease.

Gary Craig, a Stanford engineering graduate developed this technique and continues to use, evaluate and promote EFT worldwide. EFT is generally an emotional form of acupuncture without the needles. While focusing on the issue through the use of affirmation statements and reminder phrases, energy meridians in the body are stimulated by tapping on them with your fingertips. This process works at restoring any disruption in the body’s energy system. It is an easy process to learn so that you can continue to use the technique between sessions with your practitioner.

EFT discovery statement says: “The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.” It has become obvious that our physical pains and diseases are strongly connected to our emotions and the following statement has also proven to be true: “Our unresolved negative emotions are major contributors to most physical pain and diseases.

EFT draws on two basic ideas:

1. The long practiced Eastern discoveries and therapies that have been around for over 5,000 years.

2. Albert Einstein, who told us back in the 1920’s that everything (including our bodies) is composed of energy.

Western civilization has been slow to adopt many of these practices but there is a new movement that is now embracing these therapies and their common sense approach to healing. That is why EFT will often work when nothing else will. EFT is respected because it minimizes emotional pain, often being painless, it’s fast, efficient and usually long-lasting and it doesn’t matter how intense the issue is or how long someone has had it.

How does EFT work?

EFT works by correcting the energy flow in the body. If we consider the discovery statement we learn that some event causes your body’s energy to be disrupted and results in a negative emotional response. This negative response may also take the form of physical pain or disease. Through the use of affirmation and reminder phrases EFT “tunes-in” to the problem and energy meridians are “tapped” while you are focused on the issue. As the energy flow is corrected the ailment and its symptoms diminish and often completely disappear after just a few rounds of EFT.

How is EFT used today?

EFT is currently being used by medical doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, surgeons, social workers and alternative medicine practitioners all over the world. It is being used for pain relief, anger issues, addictions, weight loss, anxiety, trauma, women’s issues, fears & phobias, allergies, respiratory problems, blood pressure, relationship problems, depression and children’s issues. Schools and sports organizations are finding EFT useful for issues including test anxiety, concentration, behavioural problems, learning disabilities and dyslexia. In the workplace EFT is being used to enhance performance, reach goals and objectives and take personal and corporate achievement to the next level.

EFT is also being implemented as part of Employee Assistance Programs to help staff deal with life situations which may impact their professional and personal well-being.

EFT is also widely used in the treatment of serious health and lifestyle conditions such as migraines, lack of mobility and sexual performance problems. In fact, practitioners will try EFT on everything and are usually very successful.

Do I have to believe in EFT for it to work?

No. EFT will work regardless of whether you believe it can work or not. While it is always helpful to have a positive attitude towards healing, a negative attitude will not prevent the healing from taking place.

What are the side effects or risks to this treatment?

There have been no recorded side effects from the use of EFT. It is considered a “painless” therapy and in fact, every effort is made to make each treatment free of discomfort.

How many sessions will be required?

The number of sessions will depend on your individual situation and the nature of your problem. Often we are able to obtain remarkable results in just a few sessions. In some cases your problem may be resolved in only one session. For more complex cases several sessions over a period of time may be required. Usually in theses situations you will be instructed to perform several rounds of EFT at home between your scheduled sessions
